Feliz Pascua de la Resureccion! April 21, 2014

Querido Familia y Amigos,

... No pienso que mucho occurio este semana...

Haha, we had exchanges with the STLs, who are English. I guess I talked about or in Spanish a lot, because as Sister Holt was filling out the exchange forms, in the comments seccion, she wrote, "She REALLY loves Spanish." It made me laugh inside.

We did service at Hermana Tenney's house, and Hermana Blancas dropped us off on her way home from an appointment because Hermana Tenney had been babysitting her ninas. Pues, so the back yard at the Tenney's house wraps around the side of the house, and there's a three-foot fence surrounding it. We get out of the car, and Eva Tenney, she's four, sees us, runs to the fence, climbs over it, and runs as fast as she can, and she's screaming "Hermana Miller!!!" and that was my only hint to bend over for a child-size hug before she rand into me. (: It was sooo cute and it made me so happy. Hermana Lyman was standing next to me like, "Really, Eva? I've known you for three months, and she's only been here 4 weeks!"

I think that's about it for this week. We went to the Tulip Festival with the Tenneys for a noche de hogar, and (this is funny, hold on) our toilet got clogged this week, and we don't have a plunger at our apartment, so we biked to the church to borrow the plunger. The whole way home, I got super weird looks because there was a plunger sticking out of my basket. Yes, we did get a picture, don't worry. (:

Kay, love you all! Write me!

Love,
Hermana Miller

P.S. The library box thing? We would like to put a hard cover Book of Mormon in it. If any of you have a hard cover Book of Mormon lying around that's in good shape, not marked up, and not being used, I wouldn't say no if you wanted the sneaky pants misioneras de Mount Vernon to contribute it to the library box.

And the nino in the cupboard? Haha, we were helping Elvia get her car fixed (she's a recent convert with the problem that she can't English, and her Spanish is as good as ours, because her first language is Mastecco [I think that's how you spell it. It's like Chinese and Spanish mixed, it sounds so cool], so we had to translate for her), and as we were waiting, Geradito climbed into the cupboard. (: He's so cute. We're really sad, though, because they and the rest of their family are moving to California hoy.

Happy Easter

Help Wanted-True Disciples of the Lord, Jesus Christ. Here am I, send me, March 31.2014

Querido Familia y Amigos,

Wow, this week was a tough one. I love Hermana Lyman, my new companion, and Mount Vernon, my new area, seems fine, but this week was supes hard.

So, Monday was lots on tears as Hermana Andersen and I packed my cosas and prayed that I would have a good companion and a good area. Tuesday was chaos. We got to transfers, and there were a million and five missionaries there, and I got four letters, and then I got the slip. It told me that I would be with Hermana Lyman, and I would be in Mount Vernon. Hermana Andersen tried to be excited for me; Hermana Lyman was her last companion, and Mount Vernon was where she was born (as a missionary), but it was really hard for both of us because we'd become so close that last 12 weeks.

Then, in the car to Mount Vernon, the branch president driving because we're on bike, and Hermana Lyman in the front being all social, I just wanted to sit there in the bucket seat of the van and ponder, maybe take a nap, but our neighbor, Stephanie, was there sitting next to me talking my ear off. It didn't matter that it was English, I didn't get a lot out of it.

Then this week was full of Hispanics that I don't know with excuses I had heard before (no puedo, porque este y este y este), and I felt I could not be productive in the slightest with planning or anything, because I don't know the people, I don't know where they live, so I don't know how to use our marshmellows wisely, so Hermana Lyman does all the planning.

And with Hermana Andersen, I had gotten used to our super organized fridge and cupboards. And it was great. When I came in on Tuesday with my yogurts and vitamin waters and homemade tamales, and asked where they should live, Hermana Lyman said anywhere. She meant it.

There are two other hermanas living with us, and there is no order to our kitchen. Everyday, I'm reminded of Doctrine and Covenants 88:119:

Organize yourselves; prepare every needful thing; and establish a house, even a house a prayer, a house of fasting, a house of faith, a house of learning, a house of glory, a house of order, a house of God.

Maybe we're the other things, but I do not feel that tenemos una casa de orden. But it's okay, it's just a small thing, and I'm slowly fixing it. (: It'll be mejor.

We watched the Womens Conference (in English), and it was sooo awesome! We all miss our moms, soo much. (: So I just wanted to make a shout out to my mom. Mom, thank you for always being so centered and making sure that we always had conference on and weren't doing other things whenever it was conference time. Thank you for your example. (: Te quiero mucho!

So, that was my week. Then I found out today that Sheila (my car) has passed away. I'm super bummed, but glad the driver is okay. So, the good thing about all this is that next week everything has to be better. (:

I love you all!

La Familia Guevara-without Hermana Guevara because she wasn't home. ):

Hermana Andersen didn't know how to use my fancypants new camera my parents sent, so this is upside-down.

And this one is Hermana Lyman, my new companion, and I.
